Emotiv Systems Headset
This headset is one of the most exciting new interfaces we’ve seen. It has the potential for making life easier for those with disabilities. It should also make for some interesting gaming. I cannot wait to get my hands on one (or three). The device has 14 electrodes for measuring EEG (brain waves) and a gyroscope for monitoring head rotation. They don’t say whether or not the headset also has any kind of multiple-axis accelerometer, nor do they mention how many axes the gyro measures. Of course there’s a wireless interface, although they don’t mention what kind. The opening price is under $300, but they’re not available yet. You can reserve a headset through their website, though. emotiv.com
